The Need for Masculine Parenting

My daughter and I are super excited to host a community event to help kids speak confidently in early October. It actually took a lot of observation, reflecting on my daughter's personality, strengths and interests, and self-reflection in the same vein in order to find a project that my daughter and I can do together which we would both enjoy. This is a good example of masculine parenting since generally speaking, men prefer objects and tasks more than people (hence male friendships are usually activity oriented). Our children need this from us as fathers; honestly, to see the joy in my daughter's face and how much she wants to do this event with me makes me so happy and motivated to be active in my children's lives.

I (and I suspect all moms) am glad that this generation of dads is tipping the scales back towards the middle (though not quite there) in regards to time spent on household chores and childcare for young children. We need to develop a masculine vision for raising sons and daughters that give men meaning and motivation to carry this lofty and God-honoring task.
